Round 20
Carnavale 0 x 0 Garth
Carna failed to take advantage of the lapse of the teams above them, but Garth gave as good as they got and have improved beyond measure since the dark days earlier in the season. Carnavale are genuine contenders for the 4th spot, a feat they haven’t managed for 4 years while Garth would do well to avoid relegation.
Bondard 0 x 2 Lobrinetonia
Caruao og, 8
Smithson, 43
This battle of 1st vs. 2nd was billed as an early title decider if it was so then Lobby won it as they are 9 points clear. It was a title deciders alright as Lobby looked streaks ahead of Bondard, the shot count was a good illustration of this 21 to 4. The home fans didn’t know what to make of it as Lobby just piled on the pressure. Korel Caruao was forced into scoring an own goal from a rasping shot by Shemer that deflected into the net. The truth was Lobby had so many chances and Tyrel Smithson rounded up the victory with a calm finish before halftime. Corey Stevens was showboating and the gulf in class as evident, you just hope that someone can stop Lobby as they could run away with this. Wossen City are next for Lobby and should provided a good test.
Barki 0 x 0 Celdical
Bernie Coulter hosted the team that he coached from 95 - 2005, he failed to get the better of a Celdical team reeling in the wake of recent results. Celdical have been unable to replace Chris Bartlett in the last 3 years and Kidar Krallep has been poor in club games. They are said to be seriously courting Anton Jameson of Wossen City, for Barki it was their usual brand of grinding football.
FER 2 x 0 Riagh G
Mays, 48
Caelgin, 55
FER bounced back from their recent loss to Lobby which had put them 14 point behind before the game, thanks to winning this game the gap was only 11 points, it ain’t over with 14 rounds remaining and Lobby could fade. Riagh look doomed with no hope of salvation; they gave a solid performance but came short as they failed to capitalise on some good first half pressure. The second half is where they were buried firstly by Bercel Mays as Fontene surged forward and slid in a pass; Mays easily rounded the keeper to score his 4th of the season. Tanis Gisou was pulling the defence apart and he was brought down for a penalty; Paul Caelgin dispatched it for his 12th goal of the season.
Celcostene 1 x 0 Ortovyde
Carbir, 34
Ike Weine is not having a good season as his team faltered away from home yet again; their over-reliance on Gray is a problem. Celco welcomed back Orwadh Amin after 16 weeks out and his assist won them the game as he swung in a corner for Ori Carbir to head home.
Varmonde 0 x 2 Kemojoran
Fortune, 54
Keropone, 86
Marcel Carimo came back to the team he calls his true love as he won the title here some 15 years ago, he then spent 8 years at Kemo before resigning to go to Wossen C. Now trouble seems to follow him wherever he goes as Kemo are now in relegation trouble. The trouble was eased somewhat with this win, Cory Fortune has been their best striker and he put them ahead with a clam finish, only for Paul Keropone to seal the points late on. There were no joyous celebrations after the match as Carimo is on borrowed time.
Younes 0 x 1 Pvorby
Baker, 23
A dull game that saw Pvorby back on track after the dip in form caused by Dercont leaving. New Pvorby manager Rene Jausakka was relieved to win this game. The only moment of genius was the winning goal, it isn’t often that Manuel Baker will ever hit the headlines but this was his day as he kept bombing down the right to great effect. His goal was brilliant as he cut inside and curled a left-foot shot past several defenders and a static keeper.
Trinity 0 x 1 Wossen C
Jameson, 35
Nobody thought this would be a relegation battle but it was, the surprise package of the season has been the awful Wossen City team. Now onto their 3 manager of the season, it might prove 3rd time lucky for them. This win will help their push out of the relegation zone, it was all thanks to the return to scoring form of Anton Jameson, he could be free at the end of the season and is understandably stalling on a new contract. Bosco Deizo slipped in the perfect pass for him to waltz through unmarked and score.
Wossen U 2 x 1 Mariners
Resa Kii, 8 Saeff, 21
Bendero, 38
This is the main Wossen derby at the moment with Mariners probably the best Wossen team. Union have been atrocious at home and have had to rely on away form this season. Home fans were calling for the resignation of Larry Archer as he had delivered just 2 home wins, now things have changed. Jores Pintare said his team would have to learn to cope with the pressure of the top. Union had a squad of proven performers and they rose to the occasion. T-max hit 2 assists as both Union goals came from free-kicks. The first was a backward header from Resa Kii’, then came a equaliser from Tanu Saeff as he curled it round the far post. Jose Bendero peeled off round the far post to head the second. Lance Paton came on in the second half and made some good saves. Union are now 4th.
