Round 21
Barki 4 x 1 Varmonde
Martellina,11, 19 Mackenzie, 35
Ciaro, 52
Weston, 66
Barki stunned Varmonde with a rasping victory and Varmonde didn’t know what hit them. Barki hit strongly earlier on with two early goals from Luis Martellina, the first was a good rebound after a swift counter, the second was pure classy finishing to crush Var. Dijan Mackenzie headed home a good cross to halve the deficit and they could smell a chance. They were to be vanquished earlier on in the second half when Alvaro Ciaro chipped a glorious goal past the keeper from the edge of the box. This ended any threat from Var and Alex Weston rounded it up with a hard shot in a melee in the box.
Ortovyde 0 x 0 Younes
Garth 0 x 0 Trinity
Mariners 0 x 3 Carnavale
Cravell 17
Dunbar, 70
Linderon , 83
Carnavale gripped onto 4th spot with a great victory away to the Sailors, for Mariners it was a truly awful result as they were hit with 3 counterattacks. Tony Bera did well to lead the frontline alongside the selfless Dermont Oskey; it was such an attack that lead to the first goal as the two combined and as Armand Cravell sneaked in the rebound. Mariners tried in vain to get an equaliser but fell way short, Thomas Eldrich is a creaking old pro and struggles to make to most games and his replacement Matallane struggles to fill his boots. It is a wonder that the great striker that was Jores Pintare has never had a truly great striker but then again how many of those are there? Clive Dunbar headed a second to settle it but Linderon slammed in the cream on top.
Celcostene 1 x 1 FER
Corlington, 19 Gerer, 82p
The scary thing about performance was the last of effort by FER, they were only saved by a late penalty but they had no ideas at all. Jesse Corlington raced way and took a classy drilled shot past Swanson. Celcostene had chances to get another but were unlucky as they hit post twice, FER were awful and lacked any direction. Some fans are blaming the Captain Prenton Steele for the teams lack of direction just as they blamed T-Max last years ill when they ended up winning the Tournae. Ralph Seedone brought down Tanis Gisou when he wasn’t going anywhere. Jose Gerer won the point for FER with the spot kick.
Riagh G 1 x 0 Wossen U
Daniels og 16
Pvorby 1 x 1 Celdical
Coleman og 50 Moseu, 78
Kemojoran 2 x 3 Bondard
Deison, 41 Caesar, 3, 18
Dahe, 66 Perel, 66
Bondard actually ended up the winners of the week and reduced their arrears to just 7 points but they had to fight for it with Kemo not wanting to give up the points. Two early counterattacks nearly sealed it for Bondard with Blyten Caesar taking both chances, the first was a rebound from Xerxe Perel’s shot. The second was a great chip from the edge of the box. Deison pulled one back with a well taken shot from a tight angle after Mason parried a Dahe shot. Perel pulled away to bury the third to apparently settle it at 3-1. But Axel Dahe scored a well taken goal within a minute and it was very interesting end but they held.
Wossen City 0 x 0 Lobrinetonia
Wossen City have become tough to beat again thanks to Steve Dercont and his rugged style but it isn’t delightful to watch yet that is not what they need. They held out against the champs and were unlucky not to win. For Lobby it was a strange feeling as they had regained their winning habit again but they even lost their Captain Sasha Stevens as he was sent off. City should stay up by just going back to basics.
